Q3MIN is a freely distributable minimalistic clone of Quake III Arena. It has all the functionality necessary to play on custom maps and/or run mods created for vanilla Q3A. Code and artwork in this package is distributed under the GNU General Public License version 2. If you want to know more about this game, please, visit our community site at the following link: http://www.q3min.org The developers' WEB site is here: http://q3min.tuxfamily.org Description of files and folders -------------------------------- This folder contains complete package archives (the latest versions) that have everything needed to install Q3MIN on you computer. These files are named according to the following conventions: q3min-exp-vNNN.zip -----> these are 'experimental' (unstable) versions for testing q3min-stable-vNNN.zip --> these are stable versions for general use In both cases the part '-vNNN' or '-vNNN-X' is the version number e.g. '-v068-1'. The folder 'old' contains older versions of the game package, they are named according to the same rules as the current one. The folder 'source' contains archives of different versions of the game engine source code. These files are named as follows: q3m-src-vNNN.zip -------> source code for version '-vNNN' where '-vNNN' is the version number of the package in which this particular version of the game source code was used. The folder tree within 'gamedata' contains the content of the 'pak0.pk3' archive (i.e. the static data required by the game such as textures, models, etc.) in an uncompressed form. This tree alway contains the latest versions of these files. In order to conserve space, older versions of game data are not stored in uncompressed form, However, they can be recovered from the pak0.pk3 files in the older versions of the game package (located in folder 'old'). Note: PK3 files are ordinary ZIP files, so if you replace their extension with 'zip' then any archive manager (Winzip, etc.) can unpack them. The folder 'tmp' is used for distributing small updates or bugfixes for the current package. They become superfluous when the next version is released and are deleted.
